Unveiling the Pity of War Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum June 24th 2024
The large scale Pity of War memorial was unveiled and dedicated by The Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire Ian Dudson, assisted by Children from St Stephens Primary school, Fradley and The Rt. Rev. Bishop of Lichfield Michael Ipgrave.

Trustees visit site of the Pity of War Memorial
In 2023 Trustees of the Pity of War charitable trust, together with the Artist, visited the National Memorial Arboretum to choose the best location for the installation of the large scale Bronze memorial. A most appropriate position was found and measured which is near to the Quaker memorial and on route to the newly planted trees of life glade.
The Pity of War Sculpture At the Foundry
The Pity of War memorial was created in clay form by Sculptor Peter Walker and then was enlarged. The final large scale statue was cast into Bronze at the Foundry in Wales by John Davies. Here the trustees of Pity of War visit the large scale artwork before it was finally cast into Bronze and transported to the National Memorial Arboretum.
At St Martin in the Fields, London
A Pity of War maquette is now on permanent display in St Martin in the Fields, London. You can see the sculpture as you go down towards the crypt area.
The Pity of War in Limburg an Der Lahn, Germany
The Pity of War maquette was installed and unveiled in the city centre of Limburg an Der Lahn in 2023. Presented by The Mayor of Limburg Dr Marius Hahn. Images here show the Mayor receiving the sculpture by Peter Walker the Artist. The Pity of War is now permanently sited at Europlatz in Limburg Germany.
The Pity of War in Hereford and Ludlow
As part of the Pity of war Tour a copy of the Pity of War maquette was on display in Hereford Cathedral and Ludlow methodist Church November 2023.
The Pity of War in Minnesota USA
The Pity of War maquette is now in the permanent collections of the Basilica of St Mary in Minneapolis, USA (2021)
Pity of War at Sheffield Cathedral
Pity of War is now in the permanent collections and on display at Sheffield Cathedral
National Museum of the Royal Navy – Portsmouth
As part of The Pity of War Tour the maquette was displayed at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard at the National Museum of The Royal Navy from June to August 2019
